Galeria Digital do Porto

About

the Gallery

Galeria Digital do Porto is a digital public art circuit that invites you to rediscover the city by interacting with artistic projects. Challenging artists, residents and visitors to think about the city in between its material existence and the processes of digitalisation and dematerialisation, the project is a initiative of the Municipality of Porto, coordinated by Porto Digital, and with the artistic vision of the Galeria Municipal do Porto / Contemporary Art Department of Ágora - Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M., S.A.. By crossing art, technology and territory, this initiative aims to be a critical accelerator of urban dynamics, mobilising discourses on the present and future of the city to stimulate a collective reflection on contemporary public space.

The first programme of this initiative will be presented on 19 July 2025 and displays thirteen artistic projects located in different spaces in downtown Porto using a hybrid approach: the projects are situated between the physical territory and the online digital space. Suggesting new ways of thinking about and interacting with the city, Galeria Digital do Porto invites you to visit sites that vary in scale, use and notoriety: some are places of encounter and permanence, others passageways; including emblematic landmarks of the city and places that remain hidden in the urban fabric. From augmented reality installations and soundscapes, to video and photographic and sound archives, the different artworks are accessible via mobile devices, exclusively in the locations for which they were conceived, and can be viewed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Thirteen works digitally inhabit the city, recovering memories, histories and identities, thus stimulating other perspectives on everyday life in the city. Galeria Digital do Porto seeks to foster dialogue about the role of digital public art and invites you to discover the artistic interventions of Cláudia Martinho, Diana Policarpo, Elisabete Sousa, Fá Maria, Francisco Pedro Oliveira, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, Maria Constanza Ferreira, Mariana Caló & Francisco Queimadela, Ruca Bourbon, S4RA, Silvestre Pestana, Tiago Cadete and Vera Mota.

Galeria Digital do Porto is an initiative developed as part of Baixa Digital, a project financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
